Comment | Synonymy: PERRY 2012: 97 considered Platyceps saharicus a synonym of Platyceps tessellata, but the status of the latter is not clear (Guy Sinaiko, pers. comm. 6 Nov 2017). Perry 1985 announced a new subspecies without actually describing or naming it. Platyceps tessellata is not clearly diagnosable from either rhodorhachis or saharicus (Sinaiko et al. 2018) and thus a nomen dubium.
