Diagnosis | Description: Snout rounded. Rostral bent over the snout between the rather large nasals, forming a suture with the prrefrontal, which is twice as broad as long; frontal a little longer than broad, a little longer than the prrefrontal, two thirds the length of the parietals; one pre- and two postoculars; an elongate anterior temporal; five upper labials, third bordering the eye; chin-shields small, the anterior a little sborter than the posterior and in contact with three lower labial; Scales in 15 rows. Ventrals 178; anal divided; subcaudals 23. Blackish olive above, the lateral scales whitish in the centre; upper lip and a triangular patch from behind the labials to the outer border of the parietal white; lower parts white, the shields edged with dark olive. Total length 520 millim; tail 43 (from BOULENGER 1903). |
Comment | The status of this genus remains a bit unclear as there is no DNA sequence available. CHIPPAUX & JACKSON 2019 listed it under Aparallactinae while other authors have kept is as “of unclear status” (incertae sedis). Type species: Poecilopholis cameronensis BOULENGER 1903 is the type species of the genus Poecilopholis BOULENGER 1903. |
