Type species: Tachydromus Fordii HALLOWELL 1857: 48 is the type species of the genus Poromera BOULENGER 1887: 6. 
EtymologyNamed after Dr. Henry A. Ford, a medical missionary in Gabon, who collected natural history specimens for the Philadelphia Academy of Natural Sciences (1851).
