Type locality: approximately 5 km N of Porto Walter, Acre, Brazil (8°15'31.2" S, 72°46'37.1" W), in undisturbed terra firme tropical rainforest of the Juruai River Basin

TypesHolotype: MPEG 17775, an adult male, collected on 3 April 1996. 
Diagnosis 
CommentSympatry: Neusticurus juruazensis is sympatric with N. ecleopus. 
EtymologyAn adjective,based on the name of the river basin in which the species is found, with the "z"added for euphony.
