Type locality: Near Concepción, Chile.

Diagnosis 
CommentPristidactylus torquatus appears to be paraphyletic and a sister species to Leiosaurus (Morando et al. 2015). However, these authors do not take any taxonomic consequences to resolve this. 
EtymologyApparently named after Latin torquata = to be adorned with a necklace or collar, referring to the conspicuously banded head and neck.
