Diagnosis 
CommentSynonymy after PETERS & DONOSO-BARROS 1970, who gave “1901” as publication year for BOULENGER’s description. 
EtymologyNamed after Latin spinalis, thorny, spiny, prickly. [“...Dorsal scales rather strongly keeled...”]. (from Esteban Lavilla, pers. comm., May 2024)
