Taxonomy: The appropriate genus for tokarensis seems to be Protobothrops (W. Wüster, pers. comm.).

Distribution: see map in Guo et a. 2016: 383 (Fig. 1).

Habitat: partly arboreal (Harrington et al. 2018).
