CommentType species: Coluber canus LINNAEUS 1758 is the type species of the genus Pseudaspis FITZINGER 1843.

Type genus: Pseudaspis FITZINGER 1843 is the type genus of the family Pseudaspididae DOWLING & DUELLMAN 1978 (or the subfamily Pseudaspidinae DOWLING & DUELLMAN 1978). The family includes two genera, Pseudaspis and Pythonodipsas GÜNTHER 1868 fide Kelly et al. 2009 and Vidal et al. 2008. However, Zaher et al. 2019 also included Psammodynastes the family, which is followed here.
