DistributionUSA (from the Okefenokee Swamp in S Georgia west to Apalachicola, Florida, and south through peninsular Florida; introduced to Texas)

Type locality: Fellsmere, Indian River County, Florida.  
Reproductionoviparous. Exhibits temperature‐dependent sex determination (TSD) fide Cornejo-Páramo et al. 2020 (and references therein).
