Type locality: Abyssinia [= Ethiopia]

TypesHolotype: MNHN-RA 3407, a 400 mm skin (Petit) 
DiagnosisDiagnosis: Body stout; dorsum with a well defined colour pattern consisting of five straight, longitudinal stripes (may become obsolete in larger specimens); underside of tail usually with a median stripe; lobes of hemipenes 2-4 subcaudals long; relative position of heart 24.0-27.7 % VS in males and 24.2-27.8 %VS in females. respectively. (Rasmussen & Largen 1992)
