DistributionPhilippines (Bohol, Luzon: Limay, Polillo, Masbate, Tablas)

Type locality: Limay, Bataan Province, Luzon.

TypesHolotype: lost, originally BSMP (Bureau of Science, Manila) 1781, destroyed during World War II. 
DiagnosisDiagnosis (genus): The only external morphological character used to differentiate Pseudogekko from Lepidodactylus, is the preanofemoral pore series. In Pseudogekko, the series is described as being significantly arched anteromedially (versus non-arched in Lepidodactylus; Kluge, 1968).

CommentType species: Luperosaurus compresicorpus TAYLOR 1915 is the type species of the genus Pseudogekko TAYLOR 1922: 103.

Phylogeny: Pseudogekko is nested within Lepidodactylus s.l. (fide Oliver et al. 2018 who did not make any formal changes to the nomenclature). 
EtymologyThe species was named after its compressed body, but in the original description Taylor spelled it “compresicorpus”, apparently by accident and there seems to be no other occurrence of the word in the text.
