Type locality: "southern Mexico", restricted to to “Huajintlin, Morelos” by SMITH & TYALOR 1950.

CommentType species: Hypsiglena latifasciata GÜNTHER 1894 is the type species of the genus Pseudoleptodeira TAYLOR 1938. 
EtymologyFrom the Latin latifasciātus meaning marked with bands on the side.


The genus was named in allusion to the similar genus Leptodeira.
