CommentSynonymy: Lazell et al. (1991) and Lazell (1998) formally synonymized Ptyas and Coluber but at least the latter doesn’t explicitely mention Ptyas nigromarginatus.

Similar species: juveniles are strikingly similar to the juveniles of the species P. dhumnades.

Distribution: Reports from Afghanistan are most likely in error (Vogel & Hauser 2013). These authors listed many localities.
