Type locality: “sur certaine pentes de la forêt de l'Ankarafantsika, dans les environs immédiats de la station forestiere d'Ampijora”

Diagnosis 
CommentLimb morphology: Limbless; also no ear openings visible. 
EtymologyNamed after Professor Dr. Francis Petter, who worked at Laboratoire de Zoologie, Mammiferes et Oiseaux, Museum National d'Histoire Naturelle, Paris. He was elected an honorary member of the American Society of Mammalogists (1987).
