Distribution	Costa Rica, Panama Type locality: "Pico Blanco" (actually Cerro Utyum fide Savage 1970: 282), 5000-7000 feet elevation, Limon Province.
Reproduction	oviparous
Types	Lectotype: USNM 30679; The original description is based on two syntypes, USNM 30607 and 30679, collected by William M. Gabb on. Both syntypes are in poor condition hence MYERS designated a lectotype.

Comment
Etymology	Named after the Greek words kallos (beauty, beautiful), and gaster (belly) and refers to the colorful pattern of ventral scales.
