Type locality: Pailas, a tambo on the trail between Sevilla de Oro and Méndez, on the eastern or notheastern facing slope, Morona-Santiago, Ecuador

EtymologyThe specific epithet, stigmatoral, is an noun in apposition formed from the Greek noun stigma, -tos, mean- ing spot, and the Latin noun toral, -alis, meaning valance. The name refers to the ventrolaterally positioned spots characteristic of this species.
