DiagnosisDiagnosis: A large, slender-bodied Saltuarius (maximum SVL 14 mm) with smooth throat scales, no preanal pores (in either sex) and a prominent, narrow V-shaped marking running back deeply between the eyes (Fig. 7D in COUPER et al. 2008). It is dis- tinguished from its congeners by the following combined characters: rostral shield usually in contact with nostril (Fig. 8B); scales on snout do not usually grade evenly from small to large (in dorsal–ventral transect), but are intermixed with larger granules above the supralabials (Fig. 9B); spinose tubercules on dorsal surfaces of hands, feet and digits (Fig. 10B); a high tubercule count across flared portion of original tail (mode = 10, mean = 9.42, SD = 1.74); original tail with broad cream/grey zones, as opposed to narrow pale cross bands (Fig. 1C); enlarged dorsal and lateral tubercules extend to tail tip (Fig. 1C).
