Comment 
EtymologyFrom the Latin basiliscus (a lizard), possibly with a hint of the myths of the basilisk. The name is one of several employed by Ingram to draw attention to otherwise small brown nondescript skinks. (G. Shea, pers. comm., 9 Feb 2024)
