Type locality: “Peña Blanca, 1420 m, Queretaro, Mexico”  
TypesHolotype: TCWC 32376, collected by C. A. Ketchersid, 14 June 1970. 
EtymologyThe Latin exsul means "a banished person" or an "exile", and refers to the isolated range of this form as a relict in the extreme southern Chihuahua desert.
