Types | Syntypes: BMNH 89.3.25.26-27, Kakhim Hills, Burma, collected L. Fea; MSNG 6638, Bhamò, Burma, collected L. Fea. The description by Boulenger was based on three specimens, one adult from Kakhien Hills, and two half-grown specimens from Kakhien Hills and Bhamò. Other Syntypes: MNHN-RA 1893.0370; MRSN (= MSNTO) R1364, apparently collected by Fea, fide Brygoo (1985) and MSNG 6638 (three specimens from Kakhien Hills, under the same number as the Bhamò syntype), fide Capocacchia (1961). |
Diagnosis | Diagnosis: A large Scincella with a mean snout-vent length of 56 mm (in adults) and strong legs. The prefrontals are narrowly separated or just touching each other. More than ten ciliars and four to five pairs of enlarged nuchals. The lateral dark band is much broken up by whitish spots (OUBOTER 1986: 40). Etymology | Named after Marchese Giacomo Doria (1840-1913), Italian zoologist who collected in Persia (Iran) with de Filippi (1862-1863) and in Borneo with Beccari (1865-1866). He founded the Museo Civico di Storia Naturale, Turin (1867-1913), and was its first Director. |
