Diagnosis | DIAGNOSIS: “Body elongate, limbs failing to meet by the length of the arm; 26 to 28 scale rows around the mid-body; 7, very rarely 8 or 6 supralabials; 2 or 3, rarely 1 or 4 pairs of broad nuchals; 13 to 16 lamellae under the fourth toe; back dark metallic brown, belly dark grey, flanks with blackish stripe, the upper margin of which is straight. This new species closely related to L. septentrionale Schmidt, but differing from the latter by its more elongate body, by having 7 supralabials mostly, by having more scales in a longitudinal row on both the back and ventrum (70 to 90 from the parietals to the posterior face of the thighs, 83 to 100 from the postmental to the preanals) and by the straight upper margin of the blackish stripe on flanks.” (Hu & Zhao 1966) |
