Type locality: Galgalo oasis, NW Somalia ((11°00'N, 49°03'E)

TypesHolotype: MZUF 2587, a 998 mm male (G. Scortecci, autumn 1953).

EtymologyNamed after Prof. Giuseppe Scortecci, 1898-1973, Italian herpetologist and the collector of the type. Lanza does not comment on why he uses “joseph” in the name.
