apocoptus: Dominican Republic (coastal Altagracia); Type locality: Playa El Coco, 46 km N Higüey, La Altagracia Province, Republica Dominicana.

Comment 
EtymologyNamed for William J. Clench, the collector of the type.

S. c. apocoptus was named after the Greek meaning "cut off," in allusion to the remote geographical position of the subspecies in relation to S. c. clenchi.
