Type locality: 5 km SE La Florida, 500 ft. (153 m), Independencia Province, República Dominicana.

EtymologyNamed after Greek rhabdos = lined, in reference to the lines on its dorsum (Schwartz 1970 has only a rough drawing but not photo of the species).
