Type locality: Owen Stanley Range in SE Papua New Guinea

TypesHolotype: BMNH 1946.8.3.50 (formerly 96.10.31.7), Mt Victoria, Owen Stanley Ranges, New Guinea, collected A.S. Anthony. 
DiagnosisDiagnosis: This is the only member of the fasciatus subgroup with the following combination of characters: 26-30 longitudinal scale rows at midbody; prefrontals separated, and a distinct dark dorsolateral stripe [GREER & PARKER 1974].

Abundance: rare. GREER & PARKER 1974 state that “since its description, no other specimens have been discussed in the literature”. However, R. Mackay and Parker collected 47 additional specimens in the foothills of the Owen Stanley Range behind Port Moresby (all in MCZ now).
