A subsequent designation of BMNH 1946.1.14.87 (formerly 95.4.26.50), an adult female, as lectotype by Kaiser et al. (2018) is invalid due to the priority of the earlier lectotype designation. |

Comment | Synonymy: Listed as a synonym of S. cucullatus by Wallach et al. 2014, but Kaiser et al. 2018 removed Lycodon reticulatus from the synonymy of S. cucullatus. |
