CommentSympatric with S. melanopygus.

Belongs to the clades Scelotrema and Microphractoides (fide TORRES-CARVAJAL 2006). 
EtymologyNamed after the Greek empetros meaning rock-dwelling and refers to the preferred habitat of the species.
