Type locality: Andes of W Ecuador. Restricted to Loja, elevation 2150 m., Povincia Loja, Ecuador, by FRITTS 1974.

CommentBelongs to the clades Scelotrema and Microphractus (fide TORRES-CARVAJAL 2006). 
EtymologyNamed after Latin humeralis, referrred to the humerus. [“...round the shoulder a black band, lighter-edged, interrupted on the vertebral line...”]. (from Esteban Lavilla, pers. comm., May 2024)
