Comment | Sympatric with S. simonsii in Azuay, and possibly sympatric with S. festae in the Saraguro basin.
Belongs to the clade Boreomegalepis (fide TORRES-CARVAJAL 2006). |
Etymology | Named after Greek rhodon (ῥόδον), rose + Greek melas (μέλας), black. [“...with a median black patch followed by a pink one...”]. (from Esteban Lavilla, pers. comm., May 2024) |
