Etymology | Named after Greek eunetes (εὐνέτης), bedfellow + Greek -opsis (-όψης), suffix denoting likeness. [“...The specific epithet is derived from the Greek noun "euneter" (gender, masculine) meaning "bedmate" or "spouse," and the suffix "-opsis" meaning "having the appearance of." The reference is an allusion to the lack of strong sexual dimorphism in this species...” (from Esteban Lavilla, pers. comm., May 2024) |
