Type locality: “[forest at] El Pargo, 8 km by road (Llama to Huambos) N of La Colmena, then 3-4 km NW by trail, 6° 28’ S, 79° 3’ W, 2950 m elevation, Cajamarca, Peru.

DiagnosisDiagnosis: TORRES-CARVAJAL 2007. 
CommentBelongs to the clades Scelotrema and Saccodeira (fide TORRES-CARVAJAL 2006). 
EtymologyNamed after Latin stigmosus, full of brand-marks, branded. [“...The specific epithet stigmosus is a Latin adjective meaning “full of marks,” referring to the strongly patterned venter of adult males...”]. (from Esteban Lavilla, pers. comm., May 2024)
