| Diagnosis | Diagnosis: A large member of the complex (total length up to 138 mm) with long spines above eye and on tail. Differing from D. C. aberrans mainly in small non-spinose scales on top and side of tail being granular rather than tubercular [STORR 1988: 121]. |

| Etymology | Named after Latin “supercilium” (eyebrow), drawing attention to the long spines above the eye. The subspecies aberrans (= deviating) was named in allusion to the tubercular scales on its tail (Storr 1990: 20). |
