Etymology | Named after Latin taenia = band, stripe and Latin cauda = tail, for the stripe on the tail. albiocularis: From the Latin albus meaning white or pale and from the Latin ocularis meaning "of the eyes"; in reference to the pale or white eyes of this subspecies. triaureus: From the Latin tri meaning "three" and from the Latin aureus meaning "golden"; in reference to the one dorsal and two lateral golden tail stripes of this subspecies. |
