Type locality: Paraje situado al norte de Alban, Cundinamarca, Cordillera Oriental (vertiente occidental), 2200 m elevation, about 60 km NW of Bogota, Colombia.

CommentSynonymy originally that of PETERS & OREJAS-MIRANDA 1970. Some sources called this species “Lasalle's Fishing Snake “ but there is no evidence the species eats fish (Pyron et al. 2016).

Similar species: Some specimens of S. bogerti and S. zamora were referred to S. lasallei by Pyron et al. (2015), prior to the description of those taxa.
