Distribution	S Brazil (Rio Grande do Sul), Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina (Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Santa Fe, Entre Rios, Corrientes, Misiones), Peru. Type locality: Brazil.

Types	Holotype: RMNH RENA.235, a 425 mm specimen (donated from MNHN).
Diagnosis
Comment	Distribution: This species has been reported from Peru, but without specific locality (T. Doan, pers. comm. 30 Apr 2012). See map in Nogueira et al. 2019.
Etymology	Named after Latin ocellata, having ocelli, little eyes or buttonholes (in the sense of round spots). (Esteban Lavilla, pers. comm., April 2024)
