DiagnosisDiagnosis (genus): “Smooth dorsal scales in 17/17/15 rows; apical pit absent; preocular one, maxillary teeth 7−13 and dentary teeth 10−16; hemipenis with large calyces restricted to the capitulum on the asulcate side (Fig. S11); maximum SVL 436 mm.”

Walker (1945: 22) suggests that the type locality is on upper Río Huallaga, Huanuco, Peru.

Type species: Tachymenis affinis BOULENGER 1896: 119 is the type species of the genus Tachymenoides TREVINE et al. 2022. 
EtymologyNamed after Latin affinis, related, akin, connected. [“...Very closely allied to the preceding (i.e., Tachymenis peruviana)...”]. (from Esteban Lavilla, pers. comm., May 2024)

The genus was named after Latin Tachymenis, snake genus due to Wiegmann, 1835 (see) + Latin oides, resembling, having the form of.
