DistributionTaiwan, Pescadores Islands (Peng-hu Lieh-tao), elevation up to 1200 m.

Type locality: Taiwanfoo (= Tainan) and Central Formosa (= Taiwan).

TypesTypes: BMNH 1946.8.4.50 (and possibly additional specimens). 
Diagnosis 
CommentRecently, LUE & LIN 2008 described T. viridipunctatus and T. luyeanus which have been split off from T. formosanus. Thus, previous reports or photos of T. formosanus may actually be T. viridipunctatus or T. luyeanus. 
EtymologyNamed after its distribution in Taiwan (= Formosa).
