Distribution	Taiwan, Pescadores Islands (Peng-hu Lieh-tao), elevation up to 1200 m. Type locality: Taiwanfoo (= Tainan) and Central Formosa (= Taiwan).
Reproduction	oviparous
Types	Types: BMNH 1946.8.4.50 (and possibly additional specimens).
Diagnosis
Comment	Recently, LUE & LIN 2008 described T. viridipunctatus and T. luyeanus which have been split off from T. formosanus. Thus, previous reports or photos of T. formosanus may actually be T. viridipunctatus or T. luyeanus.
Etymology	Named after its distribution in Taiwan (= Formosa).
