CommentDistribution: Type-locality given by D&B as "Martinique," in error fide Wilson 1999. Not in Panama fide LOTZKAT (pers. comm., 23 Dec 2015).

This species has both banded and striped phases (Wilson, 1976).

Diet: centipedes (and maybe other prey). 
EtymologyNamed after Latin semi-, half, partly and Latin cinctus, surrounded, encircled. [“...dos annelé régui}erement de demi anneaux blancs et noires...”]. (from Esteban Lavilla, pers. comm., May 2024)
