Types | Holotype: Adult male, MZUC 47710 (Field No. LFE081). Obtained by Luis Felipe Esqueda, Santos Bazó, and Gregory Márquez at 11:00 AM on June 17, 2021. Paratypes: Adult males, MZUC 74711, MZUC 74712, and MZUC 47714 (Field No. LFE030, LFE031, and LFE033), collected in Boconó, on the edge of the road near the Paramito farm that leads to the Guaramacal National Park (under rocks), 9°15′22.73′′N and 70° 13′17.85′′W, 1915 m elev., Trujillo state, Venezuela. Obtained by Luis Felipe Esqueda and Carlos Aguilar at 16:45 PM on April 21, 2021. Female, MZUC 74713 (Field No. LFE032), whose collection data are the same as the male specimens. Juveniles, MZUC 47715 (Field No. LFE029), collected in Boconó, near the former Ministerio de Obras Públicas (MOP), during clearing an area for cultivation, 9°15′34.30′′N and 70°14′0.57′′W, 1584 m elev., Trujillo state, Venezuela. Obtained by Carlos Aguilar at 12:45 PM on April 19, 2021; MZUC 47716 (Field No. LFE393), collected 2.66 km N of the town of Las Piedras in the La Quinta sector, 8°54′8.65′′N and 70°38′53.42′′W, 1932 m elev., Mérida state, Venezuela. Obtained by Héctor García, David Lobos, and Luis Felipe Esqueda at 13:16 PM on August 21, 2021. |

Etymology | Named after Latin “palam,” meaning in the presence of, openly and “ala,” mean- ing wing [123] to refer to a visible character in relation to the lateral margins of the rostral in dorsal view, that resemble a gull’s wing, that is, open and forming a V with a >90° obtuse angle and where the internasals tend to be laterally contracted. |
