CommentListed as synonym of T. melanocephala by Wilson 1999. 
EtymologyNamed after Latin relicta, forsaken, abandoned, derelict; left untouched. [“...In recognition of its probable origin during fluctuations of Pleistocene sea levels, I designate the populations of Tantilla within peninsular Florida south of the Suwannee River and north of Dade County and the outlet of the Peace River into the Gulf of Mexico as Tantilla relicta new species...”].
