CommentTantilla brevicauda MERTENS 1952 has been removed from synonymy with Tantillita canula. 
EtymologyThe name canula is derived from the diminuitive of the Latin canna, meaning "a reed or cane," in allusion to the slender, elongate shape of the body of this snake.
