Holotype: ZFMK 24906, paratypes in ZFMK, SMF, HLMD RA-1684-1685 (formerly ZFMK) [hierrensis] 
CommentTarentola boettgeri doesn’t occur on the Cape Verde Islands (A. Vilado, pers. comm.) although it has been reported from these islands. Tarentola boettgeri bischoffi JOGER 1984 has been elevated to species status. 
EtymologyNamed after Oskar Boettger (1844-1910), herpetologist at the Senckenberg Museum in Frankfurt am Main.
