DistributionAfghanistan (Girishk region)

Type locality: 55 km west of Girishk, Aghanistan.
Reproductionoviparous
TypesHolotype: CAS 120322, adult female; paraypes: FMNH, CAS
DiagnosisDiagnosis. Three to 5 subpostfemoral tubercles; dorsal tubercles almost always separated from one another by 2 or more small juxtaposed scales or granules, 26-29 tubercles in a paravertebral row extending from immediately behind head to level of vent; 37-40 abdominal scales across middle of belly; a total of 35-46 femoral and preanal pores (seen as slight depressions in the scales in females), the series separated in midline by one or two scales lacking pores or depressions; 15 to 19 interorbital scales (Leviton & Anderson 1984).

Color pattern: a mottling of brown spots on head, a thin chevron-shaped marking on occiput, 6 irregular dark brown crossbars on dorsum, and 15 dark crossbars on the tail; many tubercles on back that are not positioned within dark crossbars are almost white; both fore- and hind-limbs barred with 6 to 7 dark bars; venter without dark markings (Leviton & Anderson 1984).

Comparisons. Cyrtodactylus voraginosus differs from C. fedtschenkoi in having a greater number of interorbital scales and of ventral scales across the abdomen, and smaller dorsal tubercles (see Figs. 1C, 1E). From C. I. longipes, C. voraginosus can be distinguished by its smaller ventral scales, and from C. l. microlepis by its larger tubercles and greater number of interorbital scales (Leviton & Anderson 1984).
CommentListed as a synonym of Tenuidactylus longipes by KLUGE 1993.

Sympatry: Bunopus tuberculatus,Teratoscincus scincus, T. bedriagi, and T. microlepis, Trapelus agilis, Eremias acutirostris, E. lineolata, Ophiomorus tridactylus, and Eryx t. tataricus.
EtymologyThe name voraginosusis derived from Latin meaning "full of pits," in reference to the large number of femoral and preanal pores in males.
