Diagnosis | Diagnosis (genus): The two Malagasy species of Tracheloptychus possess keeled dorsal scales (in contrast to Zonosaurus which have smooth scales), and keeled scales underneath digits (rounded in Zonosaurus) (Recknagel et al. 2013). |
Comment | Type species: Tracheloptychus madagascariensis PETERS 1854: 617 is the type species of the genus Tracheloptychus PETERS 1854. Phylogenetics: While Tracheloptychus is monophyletic in recent studies (Recknagel et al. 2013) the genus may also be included as a synonym in Zonosaurus. |
