Diagnosis | Diagnosis: Differs from B. s. spatalums in its smaller size (up to 50 mm from snout to vent compared with up to at least 67 mm) and strongly keeled dorsal scales (Arnold 1980). Comment | Distribution: for map see Pous et al. 2015. See map in Burriel-Carranza et al. 2019 for map in UAE, and Burriel-Carranza et al. 2023 for the whole range. Phylogenomics: Burriel-Carranza et al. 2023 found that T. hajarensis is comprised by three well-defined population lineages which some species delimitation models suggested to be up to 4 species while others suggested only 1 species. These authors, however, suggest to maintain hajarensis as 1 species for the time being. |
