Type locality: about 6 km E of Afgoi (about 02°06'N, 45°11'E, SE Somalia)

TypesHolotype: MZUF 6721, adult male (= Museo Zoologico dell'Universita di Firenze) 
DiagnosisDiagnosis: An apparently medium-sized (body length of the two only known specimens = male 67 mm, female 75 mm), maculilabris-like Mabuya, with: lower eyelid with an undivided disk; scales on the sole not spinose; a single subocular bordering the lip, not narrowed appreciably inferiorly; upper head-shields smooth, with only a very faint indication of rugosity; anterior border of the nostril just above the vertical of the suture between the rostral and the 1st labial; frontoparietals, parietals and interparietal distinct; a postnasal resting on the 1st labial; dorsal midbody scales usually with 7-9 keels; 30 scales round the body, midway axilla to groin; four supraoculars; lower anterior temporal one and half times as long as the underlying (7th) supralabial; 42 transverse series of scales between the nuchals and the base of the tail (at the level of the posterior connection of the hindlimbs); 49 (d')-51 (<.i?) transverse rows of scales between the 1st pair of chin-shields and the precloacal shields; tail length less than twice the snout-body length; adult specimens brown above with some small irregular dark spots on the trunk and tail, two faint light latero-dorsal stripes, a dark streak (passing under the eye) between the loreal region and ear-opening, upper and lower labials ivory- white and almost all with a partially dark posterior margin, underparts immaculate.
