DistributionSW Angola, Namibia (excluding the coastal strip and the west, where replaced by M. variegata), W Zambia, botswana, N Cape, N and Free State Provinces of South Africa, NW Zimbabwe, Mozambique south of the Save River.

Type locality: Rio Coroca, dans le littoral au
sud de Mossamedes”, Namibe Province, Angola.

triebneri: Holotypus: SMF45559; male, Type locality: Osona bei Okahandja, Damaraland, SW-Afrika.  
Reproductionviviparous (not imputed, fide Zimin et al. 2022) 
TypesSyntypes: ZMB 6478, Rio Coroca, Angola, presented J.V. Barboza du Bocage; MBL 742 (2 specimens). The MBL syntypes were lost in the 1978 fire that destroyed the collection. See Bauer et al. (2003: 277) for discussion. 
DiagnosisDiagnosis: Ceriaco et al. 2024: 100 
CommentSynonymy: Mertens 1954 stated that his triebneri is a skink that had been called Mabuya damarana. However, his examination of the type of damaranus revelealed that it is identical with Mabuya varia Peters, hence he suggested to call Mabuya damarana Mabuya longiloba. Mertens distinguished two populations within longiloba, one of which he described as triebneri.

EtymologyApparently named after the punctate pattern on the sides of many specimens.

Mabuya longiloba triebneri was named after Wilhelm Triebner, an expert for succulents in Windhoek who led several excursions in which Mertens participated.
