Distribution	Madagascar Type locality: 0.5 km WSW of Lavenombato village, 23°33.5’S, 43°48.3’E, 10 m elevation, Toliara Fivondronana, Toliara Province [near the mouth of the Onilahy River], Madagascar.
Reproduction	oviparous (phylogenetic imputation, fide Zimin et al. 2022)
Types	Holotype: UMMZ 217100 (RAN 48523)
Diagnosis
Comment	White-spotted species of the aureopunctata group of Madagascan Mabuyas. Similar in size and habitat to M. vato, and in general coloration to the much larger M. aureopunctata. Broadly sympatric with M. aureopunctata, M. elegans, and M. gravenhorstii. Abundance: only known from the type locality (Meiri et al. 2017).
Etymology	Named after the Vezo ethnic group of Malagasy who occupy Lavenombato village and protect the type locality through their fady (taboo) system.
