Comment | White-spotted species of the aureopunctata group of Madagascan Mabuyas. Similar in size and habitat to M. vato, and in general coloration to the much larger M. aureopunctata. Broadly sympatric with M. aureopunctata, M. elegans, and M. gravenhorstii. Abundance: only known from the type locality (Meiri et al. 2017). |
Etymology | Named after the Vezo ethnic group of Malagasy who occupy Lavenombato village and protect the type locality through their fady (taboo) system. |
