Diagnosis | Diagnosis: Dark dorsal stripes, a red venter, and the absence of light nuchal spots or a collar will separate this form from all other small Costa Rican snakes (Savage 2002: 639). Comment | SIMILAR SPECIES: (1) Trimetopon slevini has light nuchal spots. (2) All other Trimetopon have light nuchal markings and a yellowish to white venter. (3) Tantilla vermiformis has a single middorsal dark stripe and light-colored parietal tips (Savage 2002: 639). Abundance: Rare. This is one of the species called 'lost' and 'rediscovered' by Lindken et al. 2024. |
